SEOUL, March 19 (Yonhap) -- Prime Minister Kim Min-seok on Thursday inspected safety readiness at Incheon International Airport, the country's main gateway, as many fans are expected to visit for K-pop superband BTS' upcoming comeback show.
Kim received a briefing on the airport's preparations for the event and inspected its immigration facilities and automated immigration screening system upon his arrival from a two-nation trip to the United States and Switzerland, his office said.
Following its first album release in nearly four years on Friday, the group is set to stage a comeback show the following day at an outdoor venue at Gwanghwamun Square in Central Seoul, which is expected to draw about 260,000 fans from home and abroad.
Kim instructed officials to mobilize all available resources before and after the show to ensure prompt and thorough immigration screening, calling Incheon International Airport the gateway that shapes visitors' first impression of South Korea.
The prime minister also called for thorough preparations against possible terrorist attacks amid global political instability and in light of the large crowds the event is expected to draw.
On the day of the concert, Kim also plans to inspect the event area to ensure safety.
