SEOUL, April 9 (Yonhap) -- Hanwha Aerospace Co. said Thursday it has partnered with Spain's defense company Indra Group to collaborate on a military project in Chile.
The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Wednesday (local time) during this year's International Air and Space Fair, or FIDAE 2026, in Santiago, Chile, according to Hanwha Aerospace.
Under the MOU, they will jointly propose an integrated solution for Chile's armored vehicle modernization project.
Hanwha Aerospace will supply platforms such as its Tigon wheeled armored vehicle, while Indra will be responsible for mission systems equipment, including communications, situational awareness and command and control (C2). The Spanish company will also provide support for the coordination of operations in South America.
The two companies also plan to jointly develop the ground defense market in Central and South America, starting with Chile.
Indra Group is a leading European defense company doing business in more than 140 countries. It has advanced technological capabilities in mission systems for ground weapon systems, along with a strong track record and extensive local network in Central and South America.
"We plan to actively promote our ground defense solutions in South America by leveraging Indra's capabilities in defense electronics and its local network in the region," said Kim Dong-hyun, head of land systems business at Hanwha Aerospace.
