Far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on Tuesday rebuked President Trump’s threat to Iran that if it refuses his demands, “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.”
“That is the definition of genocide,“ Jones, typically a Trump supporter, said
in a post on X.
“Not a war. Not a defensive war but a literal bombardment, like Martians, you know, attack us and we don’t have a defense.”
Trump
issued the threat
on Tuesday in a Truth Social post ahead of his 8 p.m. EDT deadline for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime trade route. Trump said he does not want Iranians to die, but he said it probably will happen.
Trump added in his post that the current leaders of Iran were “different, smarter, and less radicalized” than their predecessors, so “maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?”
“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World,” he added.
Jones said even North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un “doesn’t talk like this.”
“We’re terrorizing those people,” he added.
Jones was found liable in 2022 for spreading lies about the Sandy Hook school massacre, which he repeatedly called a hoax. A jury in Connecticut ordered Jones to pay $1.4 billion to Sandy Hook families for defamation and emotional distress. The Supreme Court in October rejected his attempt to overturn the decision.
The ongoing U.S.-Israeli war with Iran has stoked growing dissent from Trump’s conservative base, particularly as Trump has used increasingly profane and bombastic language in recent days.
Tucker Carlson on Monday called Trump’s post over the weekend, in which he cursed as he urged Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz, “vile on every level,” accusing the president of trying to play “God.”
Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) suggested the president should be removed from office in a
post on X
on Tuesday.
“25TH AMENDMENT!!! Not a single bomb has dropped on America. We cannot kill an entire civilization. This is evil and madness,” she said.
Conservative Commentator Candace Owens said on X
on Tuesday
that “the 25th amendment needs to be invoked.  He is a genocidal lunatic. Our Congress and military need to intervene. We are beyond madness.
The 25th Amendment, which governs presidential succession, says that the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet may vote to declare a president “unable to discharge the powers and the duties of his office” and give the vice president the duties of acting president.
The deadliest U.S. strike came early in the war, when an American Tomahawk missile reportedly struck a girls’ school in Iran, killing about 170 people, according to Iranian officials. A top UN official said last month that 324 children have been killed in Iran and Lebanon since the war started.
Jones said while he was proud of Trump’s work the last decade because “so much good happened,” he believes “this new Trump really started when Elon Musk got right out of there.”
The Hill reached out to the White House for comment on Jones’s criticism.
